If this wasn't your review then what are you bitching about? Sounds like your in a pissy mood and just ripping on review sites without any good points to back up your claim that review sites suck. There are some great review sites out there and there are also some shitty ones, just like paysites. People have opinions and if they want to share them, they are free to do so.
And, I do know how much it costs to produce content since I used to run a paysite before I decided to review sites.
Originally posted by BattsWho do they think they are, they remind me of food critics, complete wankers.
What gives them them the right to call themselves a reviewer, what is there some sort of porn school that they go to, to class themselves as a reviewer.
This below statement is taken from www.thebestporn.com
If you like em young, innocent, and somewhat expensive!"
(+) Cute innocent looking amateur girl.
(+) Nice sized pics.
(-) Too much softcore.
(-) Too expensive.
I wont mention the site, but the site is a huge site and one of the best sites out there, what gives them the right to say that there is to much softcore, thats what the members want, they dont want to see 10 dicks rammed up her butt, so why is that a negative.
Then they said that the site was to expensive, again, what gives them the right to say that, the site is $ 29.95 per month and you get access to 15 other sites in their network and the content is exclusive, if it was up to me i would be charging $ 99.00 per month.
Do these clowns know how much it cost to produce content or better still how much it cost to market a big network of sites.Comment

How's it goin RV!!Originally posted by RogerVI totally disagree with your price rule for those who understand the monthly cost doesn't matter if its $10 a month or $100 they will still cancel.. one reason why the 10 dollar sites floped. I test the market to see what works the best. we offer a $1 trial then a $40 a month membership and we still convert amazing and retain amazing ..
Its doing so well I might even raise the prices
your traffic is conditioned to test a trial and cancel so they continue to profit for you as we take the hit as with most review site traffic.. I can afford the hit to see what kind of review we get and exposure
No matter what people dont look at porn as an expense its an impulse buy hell they get upset about there water bill and cable bill monthly you think they wont bitch about there porn bill LOL
Punkworld said it well.
Myself, and Ryan speak on behalf of what "our" surfers are looking for. Surfers haven't had the option to be price conscious in the past since they had to be their own guide. They didn't have a resource that gave them the option to shop by price.
Believe me though when I say that times are changing quickly!! The days of the "tour" (meaning all tour, little substance) are dying, and tgp's are having a harder time converting. It's not about surfers becoming smarter either, it's about them now having more information. Impulse buys still exist in a great way, which has always been the backbone beyond the "charge more, make more" theory.
From what I know, our traffic retains just fine for programs. I only can think of one program (SIC Cash) out of over 1,000 who has demoted us from PPS to revshare, and we're fine with that. We never want sites to lose money or even "make less" from our signups. If members referred from review site traffic are satisfied, they will retain as good as any other type of traffic.
The "ten dollar" discount sites by Adult.com and Platinum never took off because they never focused on substance, only price. There are a lot of very successful sites charging $10-$15/mo. We've also done a lot of discount deals (usually $15/mo) with sites who normally charge $30-40/mo, and we create a lot more signups and overall more money in the end. Again though, this is our traffic.

So from your experience, you're saying "trials" will always retain with good sites, but when a surfer signs up to a "monthly" cost, they will never retain. Hopefully I have that right...
From my experience, I'd say that trials convert much worse than they did yrs back (from any traffic), which is why sites are now "somewhat" misleading users into signing up for a limited trial (some with just a few samples), then trying to upsell them to a full membership.
Those are the only trials I know of today that retain well, but at what cost? I don't know if your trials do this or not... but duping users only makes them trust our industry less. If there's anything we need to retain, it's the users "trust". Sorry to get off the subject a little.
Price points are still an interesting debate. Regardless, I'd love to setup some discount prices for Porn Kings! I'd love to show you how your sales (from our site) will increase because of it.

Of course once someone joins the trial offer or the full price the rentention is about the same but I bet I get 75% more in the door right off the bat.

I love the level of discussion go on here. The industry's constantly changing; discussing and debating our different perspectives is invaluable to us all.
Rick and Ryan have covered most of what I have to say about the original point made in this thread... Except for this:
Of course the reviews are subjective, all reviews are. These reviews are however subject to a certain set of guidelines; therefore they are all judged equally by the same set of 'values'. Entertainment such as movies, theatre or opera... or restaurants or whatever, can be subject to review and it's always subjective. How could it not be...? TheBestPorn.com 'Official Reviews' include the points of view of four seperate reviewers, so it's actually far less subjective an opinion than your average restaurant review.
I consider all of that secondary to the glaringly obvious point here, though.
The point that's being missed by Batt and some others here is that from the POV of a website operator, not being listed or reviewed would generate absolutely no traffic at all. Not only does a review (whether bad or good) generate traffic, but it generates traffic that converts exceptionally well, as those visitors have clicked through to a site with a strong intention to buy.
Online adult business is driven by traffic... We all know that. So, embracing the logic that some traffic is better than no traffic isn't rocket science.
A 'bad' review may hurt your ego... The review may well be subjectively 'wrong', in your opinion. Take it up with the reviewers if you want to. Responding by attacking a source of good website traffic, or choosing to 'not be reviewed' because preserving your ego is better than getting quality traffic really doesn't make any sense at all!
Who do we think we are...? - We're people with great traffic.
Do us clowns know how much it costs to produce content or better still how much it costs to market a big network of sites...? - Well yes, actually, I do.
Have a great week guys!Comment

There is a difference in shit talking and pointing out facts about a site. If a site says "largest collection of teen pics on the net" and has 7 shitty galleries inside, than of course something should be said. Is it fair to lie and deceive potential customers? I always felt that was a great way to get chargebacks and assure that your site doesn't keep a loyal base.Originally posted by LightspeedActually, I am. Why would I, as a site owner, want to pay an affiliate to shittalk my sites?
Steve Lightspeed
I think if a reviewer lied about something than it is bad. I also couldn't imagine why a reviewer wouldn't give you the benefit of the doubt. If a sponsor didn't agree with the review, he definitely should contact the site and express concern.
I have both review sites and other sites that promote simply based on certain keywords I rank for. I will tell you this, the review site converts 3-4 times better, regardless of the review ratings. I also think it is important for paysites to be reviewed, as surfers are getting much smarter in deciding between the large selection they have. I'm sure there are certain surfers who won't sign up for a paysite without reading some reviews (kind of like how I won't buy an expensive electronic without reading some reviews). If you aren't listed on the big ones, it could mean a surfer just looks at another site.Comment

Review sites have to be honest, or else what's the point? And besides, overall, they rated Tawnee's site as "Great" with 8/10. That's hardly a negative review! And check out the comment's from the follow-up review.
At the end of the day, if the review is making you money, then isn't that what really matters? My 2 biggest complaints about Tawnee's site the first time around were:
#1. Too expensive
And
#2. Too much softcore
Well, it looks like at least one of these problems has been remedied, as Tawnee's site has dropped to only $19.95 per month.
And that's not the only thing that's different here; Tawnee's site has been kicking ass at updating regularly, with new content being added every other day. This is an awesome idea mainly because it's unmatched by most all amateurs in the industry.
With Tawnee?s consistent quality, the huge jump in content numbers, and the reduction of the sites overall price tag; I can now safely recommend this site to fans of sweet and innocent amateurs who don't require a more hardcore type of content

As a first-time adult site creator (but a long-time non-adult web designer since 1997), I was a bit worried about submitting my first paysite to review sites for fear of a negative review...
but luckily most of the reviews have placed us pretty high for our fetish.
I do wonder about the sites that get reviews in the 40s and 50s (on a 100-point scale).
They must be pissed... but I bet they get sales from a bad review, too.
I think visitors to review sites still make their own judgments based on what they actually see on the site, and use the review site as more of a convenient list of reputable porn sites.

LOL, these review sites really touch you that much? Really, who cares about reviews. Many people don't even read that shit. thebestporn has too lenghty reviews IMO. Review has to be of a proper size, not a science project. But again, who cares. Every review site has "good" traffic, meaning good conversions, they state the price, they tell you it's gonna cost, you know exactly what to expect, freeloaders fell off right there. This is how industry would look like if there was no free content. It's just that. Even if they get a shitload of traffic, it won't all convert at an amazing ratio as many surfers come there preprogrammed that porn is and should be free and if they can't find it, oh well, next site in line...Originally posted by solonlineWe had 1 of our sites reviewed and it kind of got slammed saying it was to pricey. Strange thing is this site has been our bestseller for 2 years now. Other than that I like The Best Porn, but wont be giving away any sites for review for a while
Many people don't have the time to read all that review stuff. They want porn and will click click click to get to the video and not read. I know why we write reviews on our review site and it's not just to share our opinions with the readers. There are other reasons and they are also the reason for better conversions, not the review text alone.
So about reviews of your paysite, care less. Honestly, nothing much changes and you will get more traffic. Least from our perspective. Unless you have a really shitty member's area you will get a solid score as far as our review site.
There's one good reason why I don't want our reviews to sound harsh and negative (if there's really no need for that) and that would be: money
We don't give bad scores based on how much softcore or hradcore a site has, we don't say it's expensive unless it costs $50/mo and has no more than any other inside, we don't give bad score to new sites with less content (we give them a chance). We only crticize sites that are obvious rip off or very close to that, that state false shit on the tours, that hide the content inside, have it all broken, etc. Those won't be bringing us rebills anyway so why not knock them down, least we get to point out a few bad ones too.
That's what I feel about reviews and that's how we do them. Trying to make everyone happy in the process

The industry wants to make money not review honestly.
I tend to agree that reviews are subjective, just like food/wine critic reviews. I produce my content and it is all exclusive and I know all the guys in the shemale industry that produces content and can assure that my shemale site is top 5 with no doubt. It is indicated in my terrific retention.
However some reviewers are not worry if your content is good or not. They review a site based on cash programms that will pay them USD30-35 per sale. They give a shit for the content. This is the industry. Bingo!
What really fucks us who produce exclusive content (not cheap indeed) is to see sites that sells leased/overused content better rated than yours. It is really a pain in the ass. And many of the content of those sites were produced by myself years ago.
In fact I never seen any independent reviewer in the bizz. Even thebestporn makes terrible mistakes mainly in their express reviews.Comment

I love review sites and they seem to love us (for the most part).
I do have two things to say about review sites.
1. Amazingly their sites have created a new type of paysite surfing. Before review sites paying surfers were on their own to find the sites worthy of their money. Along come review sites who give them all the info they need before joining a site. Great for review sites not so good for paysites. I've noticed alot of review sites choose PPS and alot of their members don't stay on past 1 month and the fact they choose PPS tells me they know their surfers are 1 month joins.
2. Many review sites are making a HUGE mistake in their reviews. They are reviewing the site as an adult webmaster and not as a surfer would. They are basically dictating what the surfer does or does not want and in alot of reviews I know for a fact they are wrong. For example we've had reviews that have said this site sucks because it is mainly picture based, nobody wants to look at pictures nowadays. I don't know how a review site could write something that closed minded but it has happened and more than once. Another thing they assume is that the surfer knows more than they do. Just because the webmaster knows a picture came from Matrix Content doesn't mean the surfer knows and more importantly doesn't mean they care. If a surfer joins a site and likes a particular model the truth is they don't give a shit where the content came from they just want MORE pics of that model.Comment

A very professional and intelligent comment/statmentOriginally posted by shapI love review sites and they seem to love us (for the most part).
I have no doubt your review site is the best in bizz. Your traffic is terrific. But for shemales, I think you should have a reviewer that really knows the subject. It is not a complain it is a fact.Originally posted by rankscomWhoa, bumper stopper!
Hey Christian, interesting statement... Those who know us well can back our independence. What's more interesting to me is this statement on your shemale reviews site:
"Welcome to the truly Independent Shemale Site Review"
Couldn't help but notice.
As a shemale expert (almost 10 years in the bizz - first as producer then as site owner) I tried to give my personal feeling in my review site. If you read carefully all reviews you will notice they are close to the reality of user's feeling and shemale fans.
Some pay sites really sucks and are well rated in site reviews since they belong to cash programs and u know that. This is the bizz. I am not complaining. Just showing the reality.
It is difficult to somebody who does not like the content or is not a shemale fan to write about he/she does not know very much.

Some review sites are definately biased, we have had several of our sites reviewed in the past month and, the exact same site has ranged from a 5 star rating on some review sites to a 1 star on others LOL

This is so true but, not only from the review site pov, most affiliates look at a paysite and think about what THEY like about the site, not what the surfer wants to see, they want 'pretty' sites and exclusive content, what affiliate doesnt but, they more often than not forget that surfers dont care if a site looks 'nice' surfers just want to get off, in a site packed with pics and videos.Originally posted by shap2. Perfect analysis. One day the porn bizz will do fair reviews such Mr. Robert Parker does with wines. http://www.erobertparker.com/ or http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Home/. The bestporn is almost closest but need to put some gay and shemale experts to review their site.Originally posted by shapI love review sites and they seem to love us (for the most part).

Right on the mark too Shap! For the most part we hear retention is lower than avg. I'm surprised we don't get moved from PPC to revshare more often. It makes sense since review sites attract more savvy buyers.
But that doesn't mean review sites can't retain well. Example, Videobox's avg retention is 4 months from our site. But it's rare to find those type of rebills.
Shap, you got mail! I definitely want to meetup at Internext!MyPorn.com - Porn's most anticipated free site of tomorrow. Coming Q4, 2015.Comment
