I don't respond to Daddyhalbucks. Considering his record on GFY (posts spam referral links or just posts in political threads standing up for ANYTHING Republicans do) I don't feel a need to respond in a mature manner to him.
The Surge isn't working. US troops are still dying. Therefore it's not working.
It's a brilliant strategy from GWB: Increase troop levels so that in 6 months, year, whatever, you bring back some of them and claim progress ... even though troop numbers are still higher overall. Sadly, I think the majority of the clueless American People will buy it.
Disclaimer: So as I'm not misunderstood, I am not implying all or even most Americans are clueless ... just that the "majority of the clueless" ones will buy into it (and probably a healthy share of those with a clue as well). After all, the majority *did* re-elect him...
Petraeus' testimony reminded me of the speech Ken Lay made to his Enron employees, to keep purchasing stock in the company and ignore the rumors from outsiders.
Of course, he held out the possibility that a small number of troops might be withdrawn in time for the 2008 elections - who woulda thunk?!?
