Newegg is definitely the site to order from. The customer reviews that they have can come in really handy as well.
A lot of knowledgeable people comment there. For instance, when I ordered my video card, from newegg a little over a year ago, I was stuck between a couple different choices. Thanks to the reviews I picked an inexpensive card that was able to have it's bios flashed to open up extra pixel pipelines, effectively making it the next model, or two, up. Even found the website info to download the flash utility from there. The shit actually worked too, first try, and only took about 5 minutes total.

u don't want 1 super computer..
you want three or four decent computers hooked up to KVM.. that way if something fucks up u've got redundancy. use 2 computers for applications and 1 as a server for backups etc.
Intel mobo's
2gb+ RAM
2 x 320gb HDD (RAID1), maybe 3 x 500gb (RAID5) HDD for server
AMD Dual core processors (64bit).
You should be able to build each pc for not much more than $500 eachI dont need a sig.

Don't use price watch. I purchased a few CPU's from there that were really cheap. They ended up being demo pulls, I had to have my lawyer mediate the sitution to get my money back.
These were CPU's that cost about $1500 each. It turns out they got them free from intel as samples. Fuckers...Comment

Juicy, seriously, do you like fucking around putting machines together or are you just looking for something powerful? If you just want something top of the line that can run a variety of multiple OS's then I would stop fucking around and just get a MacPro as Argoz stated. You get the power, simplicity, and ease of use of Tiger and upcoming Leopard as well as setting up virtual machines with VMWare to install a multitude of other OS's if you wish.Comment
