Any MX-5 (Miata) owners?
I hear it's a blast to drive, there's only praise in different sources of reviews... I am thinking to pick one up as a daily driver for sunny days. Plus it's a steal, around $28k for a hardtop version, fully loaded.

By all means, get a Miada, I'm not stopping you. But no matter what you tell yourself, people will expect a broad to climb out of that car everytime you get out and the comments will get old. I've seen it. RX-7 or RX-8 are fun to drive too, still a Mazda, just not as femme.

lol personally who cares about what other people think? I think the new miata looks good and with a body kit you could make it look better if you wanted.
Plus, they ARE a blast to drive and handle like very few cars on the road do. I know a few guys driving newer mx-5's who love them.

6'3 and had no problems in mine.
One of the funnest cars I've ever owned/driven, great to toss around, the light weight and handling are great. They're pretty underpowered though, so unless you want to invest in a turbo kit or supercharger (the motor is low compression with forged internals, great candidate for forced induction and this is very common), or the factory turbo version from mazda, you may be disappointed there. I cheaped out and just installed nitrous for the occasional stoplight race, plus had aftermarket racing suspension and a roll bar... fun car on the track and great bang for buck.

Okay, I'll bite...I don't like the fact that they are 2 door cars...I have more than 1 friend/family member. I don't like the way they look...at all (oh and their body design can't be very safe...I thought I heard somewhere that they are on top of the unsafe list). Not too sure about how they drive/handle/etc...don't care. I have a 2001 Cadillac DeVille and I love it...plenty of room for all 6'2" 230lbs of me and friends/family. I love the way it looks and the smooth ride it offers. I don't care what broads think about it, cause I don't use my car to pick up women.

I use mine as a third vehicle next to the acura tls and the ford f150 89 beater, they handle a lot like a small sports car, damn near go-kart type turns. I agree they're very unsafe, especially if you don't watch your tire wear closely. Rear wheel drive cars are death traps, couple that with the good weight distribution and you take for granted a lot of tight turns you can't make when the weather is poor or if your tires aren't in great shape. All around though, it's a fun ride regardless.
I'm a big fan of cadillacs especially the more sporty models. I usually try to get a caddy or buick whenever I rent for the same reason you describe - it's a nice luxurious ride.
As far as women being concerned with your ride, I don't think it makes much of a difference TBH. As long as you're not using a bus pass to get around and your car actually runs I think it's all the same until you get to the tinted black AMG level of car.

In the USA, yes it's a chicks car for sure. Outside of America then it's probably very cool.
Put it like this, driving a Miata in the states is just like driving a yellow VW beetle.
Instead of that you are better off with a Mustang Convertible, Pontiac Solstice, Chrysler Crossfire, and even a Mini convertible (it's gay but passable).I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

I've personally never met a female Miata owner, but I'm sure there's a few out there... However if you add PT Cruiser to the above list it'll become the exact female hairdresser vehicle ownership list.
I just think it's hilarious that everyone calls the Miata a "chick car" when it outperforms all these supposedly "manlier" cars, and is favored by guys. So what, it's smaller. This means it's lighter and thus handles better...

Miatas have nothing I desire in a car...they have no room, bucket seats aren't comfortable, and I don't need a car that hauls ass. My Caddy hauls just enough ass for me, has a nice comfy couch for a front seat, and seats 4 passengers comfortably.

i always have to laugh real hard when i read that cars like the Miata are underpowered - according to some "freaks" here. as far as i know the topspeed in the US and Canada is something like 88 mp/h? show me any new car that does less than 88 mp/h - you could all drive around in 50 hp Toyata Aigos or something like that - and instead you get serious self esteem problems when your car has less than 500 hp. unbelievable.
and btw - the Miata is a cool car, handles great, reliable and fun to drive.
