Okay, here's what I gather: Adbrite has been desperately trying to get big enough to be worth getting bought out The initial investors (Sequoia Capital) who have put somewhere where 10 million on the table, have been pushing hard to get someone to come in and buy a piece of the pie. However, according to this:

Lehman Brothers backed out of a deal to make a sizable investment, because Adbrite was too dependant on porn - this despite the contractual arrangement that apparently existed that gave AVN ads the exclusive rights to the adult marketplace. AVN dropped them, they kissed and made up for a few days, and now AVN has pulled the plug firmly - and Kaplan is going to try to come in with black label ads, even though this will likely put him further in the shit with the investors.
Now, having said all that, I wait to see the end results. These sorts of things often lead to "technology sharing" that is done a little more in the background and a little less in the foreground, so I will wait to see if AVN has in fact dumped them.
If AVN has done this, then they get a big thumbs up from me for at least having the balls to dump one of the leeches that was sucking on the porn business.
Now if they would stop taking AFF ads... that would be something.
