A gun is a tool to secure that protection. Maybe you've never had others depend on you in that fashion, and can't relate.

There's no tough-guy routine - no delusion of grandeur or anything like that about it. it just is. This thought isn't something I take lightly... it's a very serious matter, and I've made sure I'm trained in proper use and am of above-average skill if it ever comes to using a gun.

Could I kill? Absolutely. I've yet to, but if I ever did point a gun at another person, I've already made the decision to end his or her life, and would most likely attempt to.

I sincerely hope I'll live the rest of my life without it ever coming to that, though.
