Why does it seem like most people think driving drunk is ok?

i'll drive if i've had 1 beer in a hour but nothing more (2 beers if im eating at a resturant for an hour or more). most people dont call a cab or designate a driver cuz its a hassle, even though it just may save a fuckin life.

we pay enough taxes to get those FREE CABS to drive around, like they do on New Years eve, to get drunk people from a party to their home. why we dont have them, i'll never know.

Having one drink with food over the course of an hour would in all probability put most people well under the .08 limit, or even a .05 warning.

        Further to the argument ---
It's those people who "stop off for a couple" (a "couple beers" usually means 3 or 4 to a lot of people) who is at the brunt of the focus I'm sure. That's enough booze to put most people close to or just over the limit, and it is enough to impaire judgement and reaction time even if only slightly.

Limits are set and laws are in place for a reason.

On the other hand, I think people that are driving with a slight buzz, or not even drunk at all should be able to drive home without worrying about getting a misdemeanor. The .08 zero tolerance rule is what I disagree with; it should be a little bit higher than that, or completely abolished.

Also, drunk driving is the 10th leading cause of traffic accidents in the United States and it is one of the only traffic violations that is a crime (misdemeanor). Speeding, the number 1 cause is a basic citation. Maybe speeding should be a misdemeanor too since it causes many more accidents than DUI.

IMO, drunk driving isn't OK, but neither is Speeding, talking on a cell phone, listening to loud music, or running red lights. It doesn't matter if someone died from a drunk driver, or a speed demon, the person is still dead no matter how you look at it. Why all the hate to drunk driving? Think about that.
Reckless driving (uberspeeding) is a misdemeanor.

"why all the hate do drunk driving?" - are you serious?

But as i know i am drunk i keep myself to any speedlimits .

I don't think it's ok. I don't do it and try not to let anyone I know do it. I had 3 friends that I tried to stop from driving and they all died, I told them I would take them any where they wanted but they didn't listen to me.
