I just got $10,000 for graduation and it is just extra money so I'd like to invest it somehow. What would be the best solution that is NOT related to furthering my business in the adult industry?

Answer: Nothing you get from GFY.
It is a good policy only to invest in things you have a thorough understanding of, or things that have negligible risk (and by that, I do mean investments that have insurance/guarantees against risk)./(bb|[^b]{2})/Comment

That's right. Buy a house and use that as the down payment, then rent it out. It should appreciate over time and provide some cash flow in the mean time. If you don't already own your own home use it to buy one.Originally posted by GoldmaniacsPut a downpayment on some real estateComment

if you have a regular income buy a house you can afford.
low dp, write off the interest and taxes to shelter ordinary income, and a place to live. if you are handy look for fixers.
this will be the BEST investment for most people.Comment

you shouldn't ask this question here man - i recommend you get an accountant and ask them about what to do - they are the people you need to ask about big investment decisionsOriginally posted by QualityMpegscomputer science asshole...and i'm continuing on for my masters, so blow it out your ass.

ok, that seemed like a nice reply, thanks...believe me, i am only asking here for fun ideas. i certainly would never buy a stock soley based on a tip from GFY. it is just fun to hear about new ideas (like vending machines...i would never have thought about it and you never know, it might be something worth asking around about)...like i said, it's just some extra play/throw away money going into either real estate or mutual fundsOriginally posted by wallstyou shouldn't ask this question here man - i recommend you get an accountant and ask them about what to do - they are the people you need to ask about big investment decisions

here's a tip - put 1/2 the money allready towards your childs education fund - the other 1/2 invest in mutual funds.Originally posted by QualityMpegsok, that seemed like a nice reply, thanks...believe me, i am only asking here for fun ideas. i certainly would never buy a stock soley based on a tip from GFY. it is just fun to hear about new ideas (like vending machines...i would never have thought about it and you never know, it might be something worth asking around about)...like i said, it's just some extra play/throw away money going into either real estate or mutual funds
if you want to be agressive, open up a scott trade acount ($5 trades) and have at it - just remember to place stop orders to cover your bets.Comment

interesting idea...why do you suggest the child's fund? i am definetely not expecting children for awhile. my girlfriend is going for her doctorate and we both kinda like the idea of double income, no kids.Originally posted by wallsthere's a tip - put 1/2 the money allready towards your childs education fund - the other 1/2 invest in mutual funds.
