Whoever is nominated next is going to go through hell to get confirmed. The democrats are going to drill them over every detail of their lives and every decision they have made. I won't be surprised if he never actually gets a new attorney general. He may go with an "acting" AG then appoint him during a recess so he can keep he until the end of his term.
Or he might just pick a moderate so he can at least have one good thing happen during his second term.
