I am tired of hearing all of this bitching about how torrent sites and warez sites and on and on are killing pay sites. If you don't have any surfers, its because your sites either suck or fail to entice the surfers into joining.
So, instead of bitching, whining and carping, lets think of ways to use these sites and their fucking traffic to our advantage. Give surfers a reason to join your site instead of whining.
I'll start:
Take some of your older content that is already floating around everywhere (and getting downloaded) and seed it yourself. The versions you seed are edited to include a special offer as a sort of advertisement along the bottom of the content, promising surfers who join a freebie if they join for a month at the regular price (not the $3.99 trial).
My idea for the freebie is an exclusive, not available online "item", perhaps a DVD, of the site's best performer. Or, instead of a DVD, you could do a seductive greeting card signed by the actor themselves. If you must, limit it to the first 2,000 (or whatever) people to join. Then you seed your content out to the trackers and wait for them to join up.
You used to get a toaster when you opened a bank account. Banks are not hurting for accounts now, the porn industry is. So now, you join a paysite, you get a DVD or whatever in the mail.
And if you are going to tell me my idea sucks, present a better one.
