Anyone who has worked in a bar for any length of time will tell you that most people prefer their beer cold, often the colder the better. But there are a few people out there who order their beer "off", meaning they want the bottle run under warm water for several seconds to take the chill off.
I've noticed it's mostly older fellows ordering it that way.
So if in your travels you ever hear someone ordering a "Miller OFF", or "I'll have a Blue OFF" etc.... now you know what they mean. The beer is still quite cool, but the chill is taken off.

In general I prefer cold, but some beers don't really show their flavor until they warm up a bit. Generally, the more watery and flavorless, the colder you want it. This explains American preference for it being as cold as possible.
Nothing beats a beer cooled on ice in the summer. Give me a cooler and ice over a refrigerator any day.

depends on the beer... for most beers, NEAR frozen is best!
But, for the Guinness - too cold is too cold. Something close to slightly chilled is best. Some unfiltered pale ales are good this way as well.Was a graphics master for Lensman @ Adult.com but now... I can't tell ya cause it aint top secret.
