Anyone here been through bankruptcy before?

I went through a bankruptcy years ago, but I didn't deal with a house. I thought they changed the bankruptcy laws though where you have to pay things back. Maybe she can work with them to keep the house?

Best person to contact is her Bankruptcy attorney, that is what they are there for and what she paid them to do.

yes talk to an attorney....may determine wether you keep the house or not....look into either filing chapter 11 or chapter 13 bankruptcy.,...its not too fresh in my head right now/.....

I went down for a little over 800K a few yrs back.

Foreclosure will take at least 4 months and they cant even begin until after the bankruptcy is discharged ( there are some ways they could speed it up , as advised talk to your attorney to protect from that)

as far as renting, she will need to do that before the forclosure or most places wont do it, or else look in the paper for individual owned places and not apartments or property managers etc....

usually it will require a bigger deposit. and extra security deposit. but many will still lease/rent to you

what state are you in ? ( well is she in)

She already has a lawyer dealing with this, but we've heard conflicting stories from the lawyer and her real estate agent (who's trying to sell her house).

btw, this is in Alabama.
