But really, its all personal preference and i have dated with and without. Like someone in this thread previously said, tats do not make a person. That is just silly.

It should be compulsory for anyone who wants a tat to do a tour of the jails, waterside pubs, etc., to see what happens to tats as you get older....a black blurry mess.

Brings to mind the local tattoo specialist who always prided himself on his great arm tats. 10 years on, he walks around (I live in the tropics mind you) all day with long sleeves. Why, they are a blurred mess and he is the tatto specialist!!!!!

Tattoos were always the domain of prostitutes, waterside workers, bikers and the stupid guy who wanted to pretend he is tough. So what is happening here...some stupid international model or actor wears a stick-on tattoo and everyone thinks it's cool...Crap.

Speaking from personal experience, I've been picked up in bars by girls ONLY cuz they liked my tatoo and came over to start talking to me about it.

I've definately met WAY more girls who like tats than who don't.

However the majority like them when they are more original, uncommon, or have a specific meaning. IE - not the tribal armband on their bicep type.

Here's mine to date:

Lion Portrait (I'm a Leo)
8 months or so - Left upper arm (pic is bad cuz it was taken right after getting it by a cheap camera)

I've never met a girl that prefers a guy just because he has tats. I have a brother that has tattoos on his arm and chest. I have none, and would never get one. It's not like you have to earn them, anybody can get a tat. I do have some suprisingly well placed scars on my head and neck that some chicks seem to dig. Those were earned, albeit unwillingly.

I think tats are waaaay more popular now than they have ever been in the past. They definitely are way more "in" now than when I was younger.

I have noticed that they are a lot more popular in some areas than others too. For example I've seen A LOT more people with tats in LA than in the San Fran Bay Area. Not saying people don't have them here in SF, but in LA it seems like everyone has them and they are like waaaay more "in"....especially full sleeves.

I actually like tats and wish I had the guts to get some....but I know how compulsive I am and KNOW that I'll get bored of whatever I get. So getting something permanant like that when I know I'll eventually not like it doesn't interest me. Now if tattoo removal gets super cheap and easy I may change my mind, lol.

I think it's pretty much a given than young women love tats. Women will always dig the "bad boy" look.

Here's a great question:

Guys with tats....did you get laid MORE once u got tats? I'm willing to bet any decent/good looking guys have had there sex lives increase once they got tats.

DEFINATELY!

Especially with my first one, because 7 years back tatoos were not as common and widespread as they were now, and it being on my forearm it was pretty easily noticeable since I normally wore short sleeves.

Having a pierced lip back then also did wonders for picking up as it wasn't common either. I've literally had a girl in a bar come up to me and say "I've never kissed a guy with a lip ring, can I try?" more than once
