But also glad that you got the last moments that you did.
My mother died after a stroke and several months of full time care. The day I was looking to buy a house to move her and myself into where I could care for her. I'd been lucky to pick the time, and had visited with her the night before for hours and hours. Her passing still hurts me, but if I hadnt have had that time, it would be so much worse. She was my best friend. Not in the "he's nice to say that" way either, I mean in the real way.
