My Mother died unexpectedly, the day before my birthday. My Father called me, I thought to tell me happy birthday, but instead it was to break the news.

I was heartbroken, and so many years later still get depressed around my birthday.

How I wish I could have hugged her one more time and told her how much I loved her.

Not to sound trivial, but I was there as my most recent cat died of kidney failure. We knew she would die, so we fed her a last supper of salmon, which I could tell she enjoyed even though she probably knew as well that it was her last supper.

Even a loss such as that teaches you so much about life...and how to appreciate every day you are alive, and all those around you whom you love and hold precious.

I feel for your loss and wish you strength as you mourn and then move on with your life.
