The fact is they all should have been able to meet somewhere in the middle on this and iron out an agreement. This effects millions of New Yorkers and those in surrounding areas. The one's who strike aren't getting paid and it's holiday time. People can't get to work and losing money. Kids and teachers can't get to school. The Mayor and the Union leaders have to be locked in a room and get something done and should not be allowed out until they do. That's how these things get solved.

Unions are still important in this country. If not for Unions most of us would still be working under slave type labor, under age kids would be working in sweatshops. Peaches I agree that the Union Leadership and the suits sometimes misguide and screw the little guy. They are still needed though and when run professionally they are key to workers surviving because the TOP MANAGEMENT (non union) fills it's pockets and not down the food chain. Thanks for the Google tip but I have first hand and second hand experience in Union land with MTA (who is striking now), Local 3, Steamfitters, NYPD, and Local 153, respectfully. I actually have a clue.
