Yes, it's Bloomberg's fault. Not the idiots striking becuase they want 8% pay raises per year and retirement to continue to be 55 years old. I say fire them all.
Actually, lets go a step further. They're public workers. Not only are they costing the city a fortune and inconviencing millions of people becuase they can't have what they want but it's also illegal. Lock 'em all up. Or at least make a few examples. People are so selfish these days.

like they did with the teachers in f***hold a few years back? that didn't work out too well for the district at all...teachers still got what they wanted...
The fact is they all should have been able to meet somewhere in the middle on this and iron out an agreement. This effects millions of New Yorkers and those in surrounding areas. The one's who strike aren't getting paid and it's holiday time. People can't get to work and losing money. Kids and teachers can't get to school. The Mayor and the Union leaders have to be locked in a room and get something done and should not be allowed out until they do. That's how these things get solved.

Well, on the otherhand, the MTA execs are asshats. They threw away a budget surplus on holiday discount fares. The surplus should have been spent on new trains and infrastructure upgrades. And they try to give away sweetheart deals to political cronies over sports stadiums.

Oh yeah, lets arrest the motherfuckers for not going to work because it pisses off the rich pornsite owner.
oh shit this is from the strike? This is why unions are bad.. they fuck everyone else just so they can get their way.
Unions are still important in this country. If not for Unions most of us would still be working under slave type labor, under age kids would be working in sweatshops. They also help the workers earn respectable income for the work they do where they would otherwise be shit on by the top.
That said, striking has to be LAST option. They have leaders to work shit out and the leadership and Mayors office not getting it done.
MTA already replaced a shitload of ticket booth workers by instituting metrocard. Are conductors needed? Not really. They will automate the system even more now, eliminating more useless jobs.

Striking during the holiday season is just a real scumbag kick in the balls to all NY'ers. The holidays are stressful as is, its fucking bitter cold outside, shit is just not right.

Unions USED to be important in this country. They are no longer useful and if you think the little guy in the union isn't being shit on by the guys on the top of the union, then you need to check out Google.com for some references

I wish they would fire em all so you idiots would figure out it's not so easy to replace thousands of jobs like that in any decent amount of time. Fire em, I'd love to see it.

Peaches I agree that the Union Leadership and the suits sometimes misguide and screw the little guy. They are still needed though and when run professionally they are key to workers surviving because the TOP MANAGEMENT (non union) fills it's pockets and not down the food chain. Union leaders NYPD, FDNY, Teamsters and until recently the MTA have all done a good job.
Thanks for the Google tip but I have first hand and second hand experience in Union land with MTA (who is striking now), Local 3, Steamfitters, NYPD, and Local 153, respectfully. I actually have a clue.
