Hey guys new here - CPM question

I was wondering if anyone here had any positive experiences with using a CPM method in the adult web industry. I'm from a traditional advertising background and I'm just testing the water to see how some of you felt about buying advertising from a site with quality traffic from community sites and not just from MGPs and TGPs? I know the general rule among these sites are PPC but thats due to the quality of the site visitors.

If you guys have any feedback I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks alot.

        Thanks for the friendly welcome.

Its a shame that CPM is no longer as popular anymore, but I guess its difficult to brand adult content. Is anyone still using sponsorship advertising (ie. monthly advertising rates)? I do realize people don't like to invest in advertising without having a direct ROI but it just seems like advertisers are getting the short end of the stick with giving away product exposure time. Its kinda like Coke not paying a TV station for advertising unless the commercial time yields exact number of sales. But thanks for the response and I hope to post a lot more in the future.

        Thanks again

Don't listen to Joe I know people that still use CPM. I even use CPM from time to time. It really depends on what time of advertising campaign you are trying to run.

CPM isn't dead, CPC is just more effective in this industry.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

The planned site isn't going to be a quick cash and traffic MGP or TGP but a community site with repeat traffic constantly coming back. So I am probably going to be using a CPM or Sponsorship approach, I think the advertising spots will be worth more than a PPC method would yield. Thanks everyone for taking the time to put in their 2 cents.

I personally would love to see a more trusting environment in this industry. It definately seems like there are many out there that want to do honest business while a few bad apples make the whole scene look sour. I can't wait to do business with a lot of you and I'm very optimistic about all this.

unfortunately there are bad apples in every industry. The good ones try to make up for it.

So what are the benefits of using a PPC advertising plan? Also it seems PPC has a lot of faults with people or bots exploiting clicks. If I were setting up a MGP or Paysite I would definately use a PPC method but I don't see setting up PPC advertising on high traffic community sites as being beneficial with all the free advertising it yields. Sometimes product awareness may not yield direct immediate sales but depending on the quality of the advertising it may have a more traditional benefit.

ie.. a user visits site and views the advertising multiple times. Later on in the evening visits the site to get his/her rocks off and makes a purchase. Granted they didn't click on the link at that moment but the product still yields a sale.

Advertising isn't just sales but brand name exposure and product awareness.

                    Just my 2 cents.

Circus Penis every advertising method has its pros and cons. Like I said before it really depends on what type (not time) of advertising campaign you are trying to run. I would suggest checking out the following websites to find the answers you are seeking.

Hey I'm not trying to cut anyone short or show any disrespect. All I'm saying is that I'm not seeing the full spectrum of advertising in PPC.

First you were telling us that CPM is dead and no one uses it any longer. Now you are telling us that people still use CPM, but if they do they are just wasting their money. These are both pretty bold statements. Being that you own a marketing company maybe you could enlighten us all by explaining in detail why CPM is a waste of money. It would also be great to see some statistical data backing your claim if its not too much trouble.

I still stick to my statement that CPM is dead, like a corpse can be brain dead but the heart still beating. As for CPM being a waste of money, there are better ways to generate traffic, or branding.
