Actually, Gator, it does happen; in fact there is a high-profile case in my county now where a 3yo girl was burned and beaten and had bones broken by the father's girlfriend.

That's not to say that it usually happens like that; it is unusual. But women can be every bit as cruel as men.

My 9-5 is involved in helping prevent this type of tragedy. If you really want to do something to prevent child abuse, donate to a prevention non-profit in your area. We need funds to serve at-risk families and without donations we struggle to meet the needs of these families. Educating and empowering parents to meet their children's needs safely can be done in most cases, and when it can not, in-home programs are commonly the first to identify that high risk home and report it to the authorities.

So please, if Kelsey touched your heart, do something about it. (If you want to donate to my organization, hit me up via email or icq. But one in your area will have a more direct effect on your community.)
