1) That's not the way it works. Yes, in many cases it will give the correct spelling but that's not the intention - If your search turns up relatively few results, Google simply tries to find something similarly spelled that you may be looking for that has more results.

2) Type "noob" for example. It's not a word, and yet Google doesn't suggest an alternative. Why not? See #1 ... plus there are so many children out there that still use this term, it has ended up on a lot of web pages. Like this one.
