this can be applied to many things like meeting people at shows and im not talking one night stand stuff, this is for quality. All of this is my own opinion/experience and ill probably add more
first, have a smile or smirk on your face or be ready to smile at anything, always be friendly, and seem like the fun guy
never approach a girl head on. try to find a way to be in the area and comment on something. no need to attack right away either. you can see somebody one time, then run into them again later (same night or a different time) and you automatically have an in. you can comment, hey, i saw you at xxx a few days ago
within the first glance or few seconds you can tell if there is interest or not. dont follow the lost causes, your wasting your time
talk about anything, it doesnt matter, let the conversation flow to whatever topic. the point is to keep it up
if a girl touches you or keeps smiling, its a good sign. dont be too confident at this point though, this is often a farce to let your guard down, then they know you are an option for them, and once they evaluate all of their options, they may not notice you any more (scottsdale chicks are making me bitter)
have dignity, dont be desperate or be all over somebody, it shows weakness, you have to play it cool (very hard sometimes)

pretty girls automatically are on HIGH DEFENSE ALERT because they get hit on so much. so imo the best chances are non-threatening, under the radar approaches, to see if the chemistry is there
