First, most of the people on this board who earn a living from adult receive most of their money for the United States. Say it has shitty healthcare, a retarded President, etc., but calling a country that is writing your paychecks a third world country is ignorant.
As for the stats, it doesn't have a whole lot to do with our healthcare industry, but moreso with the income and educational levels of parents. In the industrialized world, infants typically don't die from basic diseases in hospitals, they die from accidents and neglect from parents. The UK has seen a large rise in infant deaths in the past couple years which has been found to coorelate to their widening gaps in wealth.
