ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) _ A Roman Catholic priest drew a 15-month prison sentence for possessing pornographic images of children on his computer.
The Rev. Michael Volino, 42, who pleaded guilty in May, could have been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison if convicted at trial. A Diocese of Rochester technician found hundreds of child-porn images while repairing the priest's computer early this year.
Volino, who served at St. John the Evangelist Church in the Rochester suburb of Greece, denied molesting any children.
At sentencing, U.S. District Judge David Larimer prohibited Volino from ministering to children or working with school programs in the 10 years after his release from prison.
The diocese said in a statement that Volino remained on administrative leave, was barred from public ministry and could be dismissed from the priesthood.
