a) I would say that average revenue per join has been stable over the past several years. I suspect that programs who relied on memberships longer than 3 months to make money are the ones who are noticing a change..

b) We made more money from exit traffic in the past 12 months than ever.

c) I would agree with this statement

d) I would say that many programs are charging monthly rates that are way too low, 24.95 - 29.95, when $39.95 has been a historically profitable price point while still providing value to the surfer and having little affect on conversions when used in an aggressive low dollar trial membership model.

If any PPS program would have to resort to shaving it is only because they are unable to properly monetize their traffic.

Shaving is the stupid person's solution to mismanagement of traffic and signups. Any company with any clue what they're doing can profitably pay $35 per join.
