    at what point did you quit your day job?

    ok i basically went to college.. got my bachelors.. landed an IT job before i even graduated.. they trained the hell out of me, certs galore, now im out at fortune 1000 customers & univiersities doing consultant work.. but im not happy..

    i basically make 3-4x more doing adult/internet marketing work then i do with my "IT career".. my initial raise hasnt came in yet, and i'm starting to think i'm better off working online fulltime.

    but i have the typical "what if" thoughts.. anyway, at what point did you quit the corporate bullshit and went fulltime online?

          Corporate careers offer a larger chance of making millions than porn, at least if you're good enough and are good at dealing with people. In porn, it depends a lot more on your own actions, and while a good income isn't all that hard to get, if you want to make big money you will really have to get there by your strength and creativity.

              It's just a matter of priorities--as long as you're 100% into it then go on..

              Make money on any traffic.
              Bi-weekly payments with no hold.

                          I'm not posting actual salary numbers, but it is salary based off 40 hours a week (i end up doing 50 on average).. and only dedicate about 20 hours a week to my online business.. its really becoming a priority issue with me..

                                      i understand where you are coming from.

                                      i was working as a chef and going to college for IT when i started doing adult. when i started consistantly making $1000+ a week i decided it was time to go for it. I gave a two month notice at my job, which helped me maintain a good relationship with them in case i ever needed to go back, and gave me enough time to save up enough money to make sure i could have about 4 months of bills paid.

                                      Then i quit and devoted all my time to adult. there have been some ups and down, but with my full attention being able to be focused on my work it really helped to get things done. the rest, i guess, is pretty much history.

                                      and i never did go back to that day job. i decided i would do whatever it took to work for myself, and make it work out.

                                      so good luck to you man.

                                          I saved up 6 months worth of income to assure that I had a nice buffer in case I didn't get any (design) work. Almost 5 years later and still doing well. The only problem you will have is that you will NEVER be able to work for anybody else again.

                                                  So you have some knowledge of how tricky IT is to get into.. Coming out of college, all you get offered is helpdesk work.. basically, helpdesk=shit. this company im at doesnt hesitate to send me to a class, pay for certs, etc..

                                                  of course, they dont know about my other income.. i'm really thinking of taking a weeks vacation somewhere and re-evaluate my priorities..

                                                  anyone else have personal experience with this situation? pros/cons?

                                                              I got sick of my job, quit, burned all my bridges, made my first AVS site, and haven't looked back. By ruining any chance of working in IT again it forced me to either be successful at peddling smut online or live in a box. To this day I have never once regretted my desicion

                                                                      I've known more than a few that have regretted that decision. As to whether or not they admit it publicly or not...doubtful.


                                                                      Some people will stay in adult forever, as in any industry. Some however will be forced to leave when the well runs dry, or the cost of entry increases beyond a reasonable capacity to deal. Its better, generally speaking, too avoid burning bridges in the 'professional' world, if only because the fallout may be more than you personally want to deal with.

                                                                                      I hear ya but for me personally (and this certainly does not apply to everyone) if I had not burned all my bridges I may not have had the motivation to keep going when the times got tough.

                                                                                                      I don't think i'd burn bridges.. they'd just question my reasons, especially after investing in me.. they have alot of industry contacts at all the top vendors and have a large customer base in the North East..

                                                                                                      this whole idea of me leaving has been an after thought for a while, but Monday i was re-assigned to a project that requires me to travel out of state 3 days a week and deal with alot of corporate politics at this customer.. i simply have no real benefit of this to me,, the salary just isnt worth traveling so much and still working on a project.

                                                                                                              beemk i do 9-10 hours a day at work, and 2-3 online with porn.. you know this maaaan! you also know im lazy when it comes to the biz, mainly because of other priorities.. this online biz has never been my top priority

                                                                                                              ive been thinking of possibly releasing my fulltime position there and request a contractor role , this way i get paid for projects that i actually want to do and still have freedom to work on my business.

I hate comparing the two jobs because it isn't even fare. 3-4 days online = 1 at the other job. Answers my question right there and I need to just take the risk and move online full time. Hell I already spend almost full time hours online anyways.
