Valid point PG and fairly normal with any forces in a conflict scenario - especially over a time span.
On a personal/individual level when you know some of these people - some are just kids - it's hard to ignore what is reality for them. That damage will last long after this war is over.
The "blame" rests at a higher level - it's easy to have wars when your own family will never see a battle front. And, only my
, it's criminal to engage and abuse troops under a false pretext - forgetting the higher numbers of innocent civilians likely to be killed.
