Bonds 755 - Rodriguez 500

Well A-Rod is the youngest player to ever reach 500 homeruns, so according to that he should be able to pass him. But stats dont mean shit. Thats the hardest record to break (probably in all of sports) and I doubt A-Rod will even come close.

I keep hearing about the steroids stuff and I'm not into sports but... Can someone explain how steroids helps a batter make contact with a pitch? Is it just that strength helps the hit get over the fence?

He's 11 years younger then bonds.. Maybe if he can do a few 50hr years...

My thinking on the issue was pretty much spot on with what you posted until I watched it.

Costas interviewed the chemist who designed the designer steroid that Bonds took. According to him, it not only increases strength but endurance, hand-eye coordination, bat speed....basically he said the purpose was to put you in "the zone" whenever you took it.

Bond's batting average went up 40 points in 2001 when he started taking this stuff and his slugging percentage was off the charts.
It's no coincidence that he was a 30-40 home run guy all of his career and then out of nowhere he hit 73?

The murky part of this issue is that there was no steroid policy in baseball at the time, so while most people aren't happy with the way he got his numbers, he didn't break any rules.
On the other hand, had there been a steroid testing policy he still would have gotten away with it, because this drug was designed specifically to be undetectable on drug tests.

Alot of people think he cheated, but then again we really don't know how many pitchers were taking similar drugs at the same time. (which i guess would make it "even")

This post is all over the place but that's basically where my head is on this issue. I've always been a Barry Bonds fan....way before he broke any records I said he was the best to ever play the game.....in my gut I feel like he cheated but when it comes to the letter of the law I don't see how you can justify putting an asterisk next to his record or keep him out of cooperstown over the steroids.
