In Romania, I preferred Brasov and Sighisoara to Bucharest - the main city is too polluted, noisy and lord do they have a traffic problem! Kiev is incredible, you need a few days to see everything of interest and restaurants are fantastic, esp. the real ethnic ones.
If I had a choice to live in one or the other, I'd probably go to Kiev.
