Split second decision; they also had to look out for officer saftey. If you charge at armed police with a knife, you know you're dead. Why should the officers put their lives at any more risk? If a man with a knife is 21 feet or closer to you, he can literally stab you before you have enough time to register and react. This is why officers are trained to shoot instantly in such situations.Originally posted by pimpporn

Furthermore, if shooting is a must, the commanding officer should have had the situation under control to make sure that only a single shot was fired to the kids leg as a warning. These cops are nothing but time bombs that were angry & used this incident as an excuse to release their gung ho trigger happy desires as a means of revenge & venting.
I have had people come at me with knives before, & I did not have to shoot them, but I still got the knife away from them & I took them out. It's not that hard if you know what you're doing. They should teach these cops how to protect themselves without guns. Afterall, London bobbies have learned pretty well without guns.Comment
