Get a flashlight and turn it on a few inches from the cat, then keep pulling the beam away as it tries to pounce on it. After several minutes/hours of this, pick up the cat, cuddle it and stroke it, and the cat should be happy.

Give it attention (talk to it, mentioning it's name when you do), feed it and change it's litter daily and it should stay happy.
