    YNOT Makes the News!

    <rant>

I always love it when I'm looking around for stories about our company and come across something like this:

    http://www.politicsnj.com/porn-lawye...xec-race-10506

Where to begin! First, Eric hasn't been a moderator on YNOT's chat boards for YEARS... that fact is so out of date it isn't even funny.

Second, we do not give out free legal advice... we do cover legal topics/news of interest to webmasters and help webmasters understand what legal issues affect their businesses. There's a big difference between that and legal advice.

Third, we haven't actively used the ynotmasters.com domain in YEARS, it just redirects to ynot.com now when you click on anything.... Jesus, you'd think these people could do just a small amount of fact checking before they posted a story like this. At least get our URL right!

Fourth, we're hardly a "one stop shop" for "hardcore pornographers" ... we're working on getting there, but I think we have a few more features to add first before we can make that claim!

But complaints about the inaccuracies aside... is this guy suggesting that legal adult-oriented businesses do not deserve competent legal counsel? It sounds to me like this guy is suggesting Eric should be punished, by losing some of his government clients, just because he also represents us adult industry undesirables. So, if Eric were representing rapists and murderers, there'd be no problem then? If not, if that too were a problem, then is this guy suggesting that any active or former defense attorneys who now work for the government should be fired?

I'm at a loss for how it makes sense to hold attorneys accountable for their clients, or to how this guy thinks his arguments will make him look better than his opponent.

And here's a clue to the reporter who wrote this story... a quick call to YNOT or even to Eric Bernstein could have set the facts straight right from the start. And it might not hurt to ask grandstanding politicians some tough questions to call them on their obvious lameness when they play these morality games.

Looks like AVN saw the article and decided to do some investigating... pretty interesting what they uncovered about Sheriff James McGettigan:

Atlantic County Sheriff James McGettigan has criticized political rival Dennis Levinson for hiring a county labor attorney who also serves the adult industry. The only problem: McGettigan has retained the same lawyer for five years.

McGettigan blasted Levinson in a press releases yesterday, stating that "the public has a right to know why and how the Levinson Administration hired this porn lawyer, and whether he's representing us on our dime, not pornographers."

Meanwhile, the same "porn lawyer," Eric Bernstein, has been employed as McGettigan's labor counsel since 2002. Bernstein said he personally informed McGettigan of his involvement with the adult industry years ago.

      ouch

""As of this morning there are 234 sex offenders in Atlantic County. We don’t need a representative of our government giving away free advice on how to skirt the law and access hardcore pornography,”"

So... he's suggesting that porn causes sex offenders?

Not to mention, I'd love to know how accessing porn is "skirting" the law... last I checked, accessing porn was legal. You'd think this guy would know that. And never mind that adult industry attorneys are not interested in providing advice on how to "access" porn... we're in this business, I think we know how to get our hands on "dirty pictures" already....

Extremely lame article in every way. Is looking at hardcore porn online illegal for a sex offender? I assume so, but it could be because of the poorly written article and quote.

Or is this article relying on the myth that all porn is illegal porn?

          Who knows.

            Nice article.

I love how they try to paint us all as "hardcore pornographers" as if there is something bad about it. Or perhaps the writer of the article has never had sex.

And I fail to see what sex offenders have to do with anything here. That's like saying the company that makes Bud Light makes them alcholics. Whatever.

Ironically..... I noticed Hunterdon County got mentioned. That's where I grew up.

That "article" on politicsnj.com is lame to be sure.

Hell, there are two typos just in the first SENTENCE...

So in addition to all the factual errors Connor pointed out... I don't know who has more egg on their face... Wally Edge for writing it, or McGettigan for being a hypocrite.

And I must admit this line, "As of this morning there are 234 sex offenders in Atlantic County. We don’t need a representative of our government giving away free advice on how to skirt the law and access hardcore pornography,” ... WTF??

I was thinking about this during my lunch today.

We are talking about attorneys here. Their job is to legally defend what is most likely criminals in court. Perhaps we should start pointing out which attorneys defended which criminals.... and then have them all fired because they have "made their money off the backs of criminals".

                    Idiots.

They always do... just like the use of the term "peddlers" it's nothing more than an attempt to try to make themselves fell good because they think they are better than us.

Useless twats is all they are.. self proclaimed moralists should all be rounded up and dumped off in Utah then build a big fence around it. Let them peddle their values to themselves and do what ever the fuck they want to an d leave the rest of us normal people alone.
In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.

Heh... George Carlin had something like that in his routine... "put em all in those square states in the middle of the US that no one cares about... Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas and fence em in and let em go at it."

He was referring to criminals... but oh well... criminals, moralists... same thing.
