yeah they all should have ran for office.

I have had/still have a lot of encounters with hippies. I see a lot of live music, unfortunately so do they. Thats acctually all they do, go to concerts and yes, whine. But they arent all bad, I like a lot of hippies I meet.

Emo kids are similar in the fact that they whine also, but they are 10 times worse than hippies.

Emo sucks as a music genre and as a trend. It wont last.

emo is a plague which I think isnt going to be going away anytime soon in the near future.

sadly we have to live with them. they crowd my favorite show venues, they crowd my favorite bars, and they even are starting to invade my hometown. their hot topic outfits, hair stylist dyed and cut hair, and their faces painted up with makeup is quite annoying.

if someone DDoS'd myspace.com and held it down for a week, I bet you 5,000 emo kids would commit suicide.

they should have done something. you don't change the politcal machinery by completly ostricizing yourself from the system and mainstream culture.

actually, this whole theory is all a bullshit generalization like most threads on GFY. Most hippies became yuppies, most of whom became rich, sober, influential and very politically involved and did try to make a difference. Whether you agree with their politics or not, many do stand for something. The people who are just lifelong deadheads following their favorite bands around, not so much. But most people grow up at some point.

Hopefully, these kids will grow out of emo pretty quick. It's really adolescent. I don't think you can be emo much past 18 and not be a total joke.

I don't know what its like in Florida, but here in California they're fucking everywhere. Of all ages. I know a bunch of them, all out of high school and in college or doing lots of nothing... its quite the phenomenon. Hippies can be credited for either being the inspiration for or being politically active in promoting things like equality, freedom, civil rights, environmental awareness, and the sexual revolution.

Emo kids can be credited with being the inspiration for boys wearing girls jeans.

I think the main similarity between hippies and emo kids, like most subcultures, they're both full of posers.
