Found out for sure yesterday!

I am still pretty much in shock. She's 6 1/2 weeks along.

Any GFY parents have any advice/tips for a young parenting newbie?

I sure hope it's a boy. How long do I have to wait before we can find out?

You would have to wait a little to find out whether it is a boy. I think they can tell in 4th or 5th month.
Be nice to your GF now, She would need it to handle all the changes.

She has went into biiiiitch mode already.

And I made her quit smoking. That can't be helping things...

well except for her health and the babies. I should quit too now that I'm thinking about it.

congrats, I'm actually becoming an dad myself, it wasn't planned but I'm still pretty psyched about it.

... and the real funny thing is, it's due date is the same as my brother and sister's bdays (they aren't twins they are 12 years apart) so if it's born that day it will be very weird.

and about the "bitch mode" I can totally relate to that ;) at only 2 months I already have to walk on egg shells.

You should quit as well. The first three months are most important for the baby-when all the developing goes on. Then the baby only gains weight.
On the other hand, if your GF smoked a lot it is not good to quit at once since it is a kind of shock for the whole body - she should ask her doctor maybe.
"biiiiitch mode" - comes and goes - should get better after the first three months. It´s awful for her when she knows she acts like a mad cow and can´t do anything about it - I can tell from my own experience. Just be nice to her no matter what she says.

Congrats man... that's the best news! I still remember how I felt when I found out...

Check out www.babycenter.com for lots of great info. You can put in your expectation date, or date of conceivement... what ever... and it'll give you a break down of how your baby is progressing from week to week. It's amazing to follow the baby's growth inside! There's nothing like it!

It also helps with knowing what to expect... how you and your wife should be feeling and what to be worried about and what not to be worried about.

This is an amazing experience to go through, but can be scary. Start reading!!!

Congratulations!!!

I don't want to put a downer on the proceedings but dont get your hopes up too high until the 12week/3month mark is reached. Me and my GF found out we were expecting about 4 weeks ago, but we lost it to a miscarriage last week -about the 9-10 week mark. Apparently it's quite common but once the 12 week point is reached and it's fully developed and it just has to grow then as long as no serious illness or trauma happens mother and baby will be fine. So we'll be trying again!!

I think 3-5 month they can tell the sex.. but don't sweat it.. infact knowing the sex makes you alot more connected ( thus alot more heratbroken ) if something goes wrong..

-tips , start buying diapers now and stash them away ( no matter how many you have you will end up going out late at night to get them ) , same goes for formula etc ..

Dont buy too much shit beforehand .. you end up buying $400 basinets that the baby hates ..

Get some massage items that your woman can use by herself ( hint hint, and yes i mean REAL massage items, like footbaths leg rollers and back shit.. or else you will get suckered into doing it all the time. )

I have decided to cut back on smoking and try my best to eventually quit. Even though I'm not the one pregnant I know second hand smoke isn't good either.

Sorry to hear about the miscarriage, that's so sad. I hope we don't have to go through the same thing.

About the diapers, yes I plan on buying them ahead of time. I believe you can never have too many diapers.
