Why do young women walk with their arms crossed?

Guys, I'm sure most if not all of you saw some 20's-30's girls walking on the street with their arms crossed. I tend to notice this alot and find it fascinating and puzzling at the same time. It can't be to keep them warm because they do this in warm summer days too. I've heard alot of theories about this, everything from them not feeling comfortable with their breasts shape/size and trying to hide it, trying to reduce the 'bounce' when walking, wanting to give a 'stay away' message, to being introvert/insecure or feeling threatened. They also tend to look at the ground right in front of them when walking like this.

Why do you think they do it? This is something you never see guys doing lol.

For all the girls here, if you do this (that is, if you're aware you do it) please chime in and give us some pointers to try and solve this perplexing mystery.

I do it when I'm cold but mostly because my tits are so enormous they bounce all over the place!

Many reaons. I would say mine is from insecurity (long story) and whenever its fucking cold. I hate the cold. But I don't do it while I walk unless I'm holding my jacket on. Normally I do it when i'm standing still or talking to someone. Dunno why it has to only be then.

Also a good deal of women have "nervous habits." They need something to do with their arms or hands when they are thinking or trying to concentrate on something. I play with my hair most of the time but some women may need to cross their arms and hold them against their bodies in order to concentrate. Sounds wierd but it is true.

Looks like the biggest reason for walking like this is insecurity and not wanting to draw attention to you and be approached by guys on the street. Those of you that say it's also because of the cold and to stop the bounce, I think those are just excuses you give to yourself to justify the behaviour, because you walk like that all year long no matter how hot or cold it is, and many girls with small firm breasts also walk like this (even thought that's not the case for most of you in this thread). Subconsciously the real reason may be down to insecurity but you're just not aware of it, not like phogirl69 anyway (nice post btw).

I was thinking about this earlier today, and I think the equivalent of this behavior for guys is walking with their hands in their pockets. Must be down to insecurities too, something along the lines of wanting to make their 'package' less noticeable.

Honestly, I'm not sure which position you are talking about because I don't think I do it... or I do t and I don't even notice.

I do know that there's a scientific reason for why boys and girls carry their books differently in school. Girls carry them against them on their stomach/chest and boys carry them at their sides (usually). I vaguely remember hearing a story about this years ago... but there's actually a difference in male and female elbows and the way they 'naturally' bend. I forget the exact explaination, but I do know it has something to do with elbows

Seriously you were right in my case. I hated the idea of my nipples showing and would push them back down or hide them. I was afraid for ages that I had trained them not to perk up as much from doing that but they eventually started working again
