CONGRATS!!
quiting is tough, but its STAYING quit thats the daily battle. it'll be 8 months smoke-free for me on Sunday...last week on my vacation i kinda fucked up..i took a hit off of my girl friends cig...i liked it but didnt really miss it. its a mental thing more than physical i think (the addiction).
if i could be a social smoker, I'd be happy (ex: playing poker, drinking at the club, etc)...but im too afriad of slipping up and not stopping again. so instead, i enjoy a cigar once in a blue moon.

I quit a month ago after being told I had bladder tumors that ONLY show up, in my life, from smoking. So, quitting wasn't a problem for me. As for others, they can take the chance, just like I did. They can smoke all they want. I won't.
As a "pacifier," I used "butter scotch drops" hard candy. Same "hand to mouth/suck" behavior, just no reward, other than the sweetness.
Give it a try.
I've already noticed the difference and, as for the tumors, they're gone and I'm undergoing bio-treatment. So, no. I don't think nicotine is necessary any longer. LOL
Also, for you who know it all, bladder tumors don't give any "signs" until it's too late. As for medical checkups, you have to be looking specifically for bladder tumors, otherwise, they'll miss'em. I didn't know this before. Now YOU do! Ball's in your court. Make a decision.
ezrydn that is a scary story my friend. Glad you kicked the habit 2 and thanks for the pointer on the butter scotch drops hard candy gonna get some from the store today.

Good luck. I'm quitting myself on january 1st, along with my 60yo dad who's gonna die if he keeps smoking like that, so that's motivation right there. The next step is quitting weed, at least to try and not smoke everyday :S
BTW there's no trick you need bulletproof will/discipline, and that's that.
Congrats on your decision to quit i think with you and your dad both quiting at the same time will help get you through it.

Good luck mate. I quit for two years; helped not hanging out with smoking friends for a couple of weeks until I was over the worst....I have to say I never felt so healthy as I did when I wasn't smoking.
Congrats hopefully i will be saying the same thing 2 years from now

I quit over a year and a half ago.. best decision I made. If people around you smoke ask them to stop or go elsewhere until you can deal wiht the temptation. If you fall, dont worry.. start again and try and pass the days you quit next time. All the best for a longer life.
Been yelling at people left and right. There starting to get the point to not smoke by me.
