Looks like hackers have already figured out how to unlock the phone to accept any old ATT prepaid sim or regular ATT sim. So if you already have an existing ATT/Cingular SIM card, and dont want to sign up for a new plan, you can do it.. The hack is still ugly, but give it a little more time and I'm sure there will be all sorts of user friendly tools to do it.
I'm also sure a complete network unlock is not far off..
And someone has gotten a proof of concept, 3rd party application to run on it as well.. we may start seeing some actual applications for it too, in the next couple months.

PeteKT's been using his since right before XBiz and I haven't heard a single complaint out of him. He's been saying the reception is great, data services okay and just this morning was showing me a software hack that expands it's functionality.
I just wish they weren't stuck with only ATT, if Sprint was offering them I'd already own one.
