I guess that tip is okay if you're a stupid ass noob trying to jack $3 worth of clicks from search engines with your fake blogs.

If a site got good content, spiders don't give a how deep it's burried. They gonna index it and put a good value on it.

I think you agree with me. But the spider cannot go to pages you don't link to, and will not see that "good content". The only exception I have found to that is if you link to an object (like an image, or any file that cannot be internally crawled), Google will check to see if there is an index file in that folder.

For example, I hot link to apple.jpg which sits in a folder called /ROP1/ on domain 7angel.com -- the spider will look for an index.html or an index.php in 7angel.com/ROP1/ to see if the information on that page (if it is there) can tell it anything about the nature of 7angel.com/ROP1/apple.jpg.

Google needs your help. When you tell it something it doesn't know it rewards you. The reason to avoid "shotgunning" (and again, this is ONLY if SE traffic is important to you) is as follows:

1. Google craves description so that it might confidently deliver well-described items to searchers and improve relevancy and therefore user satisfaction.

2. If you are like most porn webmasters, with a dinky little site and a folder full of images that Google has no reason in the world to trust are what you say they are, you are going to be ignored. Simple as that.

3. When you "shotgun", which is:

you are USELESS to Google. You have added ZERO DESCRIPTION. There is no reason in the world Google shouldn't simply BYPASS you and deliver that searcher directly to the thing he wants.

If, on the other hand, you have hotlinked an image about which Google already knows something (because it is indexed) and you tell the spider something it does not know, it's going to like you, it's going to crawl more of your pages, to see if you are performikng that service for any other objects.

The spider is stupid. The spider is an alien.
