Burning Man Approaches

At the time of this post, the man is set to burn in 47 days.

Many of you have seen the pic's and read the posts from Halcyon and myself, as well as others, about the event and no doubt I'll bring more pic's back this year.

<< My pic's thread from 2005 >>

It's a different event this year as corporations are being allowed in (with certain restrictions).

More info about this years corporate influence here.

Every year after the pic's are posted, tons of GFY'ers say they wanna go. Well, it's NOT for everyone.

The idea of holding a massive event in one of the hottest nastiest driest places on the planet seems stupid on the face of it. Why would almost 40,000 people pay over $200 for a ticket and probably $1000-1500 total to suffer in this godforsaken place for a week or more? (Read this un-happy attendees review)

You really have to want to be there to truck yourself and your gallons of drinking water in and out of the desert, an environment so extreme that dehydration and other serious bodily harm are real possibilities. As it says in large letters on their tickets, attendees voluntarily assume the risk of death. And in fact, people have died.

But, alas, this will be my fifth consecutive trip to Black Rock City. And perhaps my last.

Anyone GFY'ers going this year?
