Affording to attend is not so much the issue as whether a particular industry convention will attract the customer demographic we'd be after.
We've been to the Sex Show and Erotica 2000 in Toronto in past years, and neither seem to attract much of a BDSM/fetish crowd. Comparatively, we attended the Bondcon convention in NYC in 2001 - where everyone who attended was there for the bondage & fetish market (producers, models & surfers).
I'd enjoy attending more shows, but its pointless spending the bucks if the demographic isn't there to at least break even with sales for the effort.Comment

Well, there are more factors involved in not making it to Vegas this time around. Me and the wife usually go out there once a year, but during the summer when the kids are away. So in Jan, the kids are back in school, my main job I have a new boss and really should be at work and not taking vacation (but hey that's what its for rite?) and the fact of the airfare from Florida, just can't see a way really.
Although after I told her about all the tickets being given away in contests to the show, she said if you get em, we'll find a way to go.

Don't like shows, they are just someone trying to sell you something under cover or oviously.
After parties are kewl though.
I think contests or givaways would be a better way of promotion then shows.

Its sad that the powers that be choose to have Internext at a time when its most busy and expensive a time in Vegas..
To compete with other large industry trade shows of the size of the consumer show they are having in Vegas is really shitty..
It really prevents a lot of webmasters who would have other wise come to the show, to choose not to because of the inflated prices and such..
Why we dont have it the week after the electronics show is beyond me.
It shouldnt be that expensive to want to go to Vegas.
