Biggest threat I see on the horizon for all internet industries

I have often thought about this. To set up a traditional radio station you need a license, to set up an online one you dont. The same goes for TV stations.

I can seriously see one day governments stepping in to get some extra cash and say that running a web site you are broadcasting, you need a license, cough up.

Does anyone else think this could happen or am I just a paranoid wanker?

You have to pay a minimum $500/year royalty fee for an online radio station.

What happened to that SEO network tutorial you were going to put up?

Ya mean Taxation of the internet?
I do not think that is very probable as the internet is essentially a massive collective of privately owned and publicly traded enterprises all over the world.

Whatever happens, something will be done so that the little guy can't compete with the likes of WalMart.com so easily. Just look at eBay alone. How many BILLIONS of dollars in lost revenue has that site cost retailers?

Where is the proof of that loss?

*Buyers that bought on ebay may have never bought any other way.
*Bidders who lost may have wanted it so bad that they decided to buy retail
and have good service if a problem occured.

                etc...etc...

Just because it is logical does not mean it is true.

There's lots of people doing illegal shit on the net... doesn't mean it's the right way to run a business.

The internet has been and still is the wild west. Things aren't nearly as tight as they may try to make them. Good luck on policing the world.

Unless a bill is passed (which it will never) to heavily restrict, censor and monitor internet sites using the FCC, I don't think it's possible. First they have to break the barrier of the FCC overseeing satelite radio and cable tv...and that fight has been going on for thirty years (the cable one anyway).
