If you're going to be going cross-country then go for something like an Electra-Glide Classic. The widened base under the windshield will keep you from getting beat up on long trips, plus it has the touring boxes to keep extra stuff. Super comfortable... and lemme tell you it *does* glide. Keep your eye on the speedometer or you'll be getting pulled over for doing 80 without realizing it. Power off the line will toss your ass right off if you're not holding on; just because it's a big touring bike doesn't mean it can't hold its own off of the line.
Heavy as all fuck though, if you dump this one in the gravel you will NOT get it upright by yourself. When it *is* upright, you don't even notice the weight. She's balanced so well my 90lb mom can handle her. (She refuses to drive it, however.)



Check the new ones and talk to the dealership, most likely they can get you a better deal on a new one than what people are wanting for one that's a year or two old. (At least, that's the case when the one above was purchased.)
