I'd take a highly trained commando unit over 1,000 farmers any day. Not to mention the resources it takes to equip and feed mass numbers of troops.
the "raw number" of the potential size of the chinese military is more of a liability than an advantage. If this were WWII, then ya china has more cannon fodder than the US and would probably survive a war of attrition.. but the rules have changed.
Also, hasn't there been much discussion (including in this thread) about the effectiveness of "network" or 'distrbuted' forces fighting against large centralized militaries? How China's troop numbers and central structure is an advantage, and yet the US is vulnerable to distributed armies.. is a paradox.
So, mono-a-mono I'll take the USA over China in a second based on Sea and Air superiority.
