The only reason any of the Bell telephone companies are updating anything, is because VOIP and other phone companies like Verizion have been kicking their asses.
Bell is just one example.. Look at the cable companies and it's the same deal.. Time Warner didn't do shit to upgrade it's cable modem speeds until it started getting competition from comcast and Verizon.
IPTV will come if it becomes profitable for them to do so.. The only reason they want to be able to limit bandwidth is so they can control the B/W to use for their own services. IE.. IPTV and so on.
They don't want to upgrade shit if they don't have to.. Promises of claiming they want to upgrade to give better services is a load of shit.
Basically they are wanting to double dip.. They want to collect money from the end users ie surfers and now they want to collect money from content providers online.. ie us website operators. (sounds a lot like how TV broadcast works now doesn't it? How many people do you that can afford to run their own TV station?
That could very well be the future of the net in 10 years if they are able to take control via B/W limitations. Trust me, there is nothing good for us or the surfer in regards to doing away with net neutrality.
