How long to send 2k to 6k of emails?

Sending 6000 emails shouldn't really take longer than about 6-7 minutes.

With the right program , it shoud take about 5 mins using a 56k connection , I use group mail from Aureate

A few webmasters may have gotten to copies of the email.
Not sure why unless the emil addy was in the database more then once.
Sorry if anyone else got dupes on the email.

I didn't mean for that to happen, just wanted to inform submitters about rule changes.

The email thing is part of the tgp script I use. And it just go thru a POP3 using send mail. Nothing high tech.

Go get group mail! Its only around 80 bucks. For that many emails it would be alot quicker for you!

Please don't apologize. It wasn't a problem as it was a one off and I fully understand your frustration with the gallery spammers who hit a site with their crap regardless of any rules. Unfortunately few if any who do it will even have got that e-mail in front of them to read.

I probably got two copies from doing something like typing a different e-mail address in. I try to stick to one for subbing but many moons ago I switched due to spam problems so it's probably just that you have two of mine.

Just wondering if anyone could beat two!

Much depends on the email you're sending out and your outbound connection (not to mention your DNS's ability to resolve domains but that's a minor point).

Especially if you're sending out HTML based emails, on average they can be 10-30k per email if not more.....if you're sending out 5,000 of those that's 5-15MB of data that you're sending. I've seen people send out 100k HTML emails and wonder why it took nearly a day to send to just a few thousand people (they were on 56k dialup) =)

It was just sent as text. I do have the HTML option but don't use it because I don't like HTML emails myself.
