When I was a kid, I used to watch my dad killing rabbits and chikens. Of course not in a sadistic way...we would eat them later...I couldn't kill a rabbit now.

looks like a pretty fucked up book. Have you tried talking with him/her about it? Asking them where they got it. What the attraction is? Good start. If my kid came home with it I would be very curious at to why? It may also be harmless comic book that they think is silly but worth looking into for sure.

damn. and i always like PETA. They stand for a great cause but I must say as an advocate for animal rights they do some very stupid fucked up things sometime that ends up undermining the entire cause. they need to come up with a new, fresh, smart plan.

Kids like gory stuff -- horror movies, potty humour, etc. -- so I wouldn't be offended that they brought something like that home. But if it morphed into a discussion about PETA and animal cruelty, I'd definitely have the conversation about what the organization is about, what they're trying to achieve, and how their ideals fit into how we live our lives. I'd assure my children (if I had any) that the meat we buy is raised and harvested humanely, and that if they want to help in the fight against animal cruelty, they may want to consider volunteering at their local animal shelter.

hahaha thats the funniest thing i've seen in ages.

Although I'm not against kids being taught how their food is killed and everything though... kids are far too removed from it these days.. makes it harder to make healthy choices when you think meat comes in round plastic covered rolls. When i was a kid we used to gut the chickens our dad had beheaded and boiled to take the feathers off.. when you know how to make fresh food it's kinda a bit harder to look at that refried manufactured bubble filled "chicken" burger stuff full of feet and assholes even though you're supposed to be mentally removed from the situation by the cute drumstick shape it comes in. Or you end up like jessica simpson eating tinned food you've got no idea of the origin of.
