The flying elephants thing is kinda weak.
We can see elephants. We can study them. We know what their body mass is like... and we can compare them to birds. We can note that elephants have a lot more bone density than birds. Elephants have heavy jawbones - birds have lightweight beaks. Female birds have only one lightweight ovary. Elephants have 2 big, heavier ones. Birds have wings and feathers - Elephants have a thick and hairy skin.
We can easily conclude that birds seem to be designed (by the process of evolution or whatever) for flight, and elephants aren't.
The concept of an unseen greater force is a bit different, because it's inherently 'invisible' to our senses.
You don't have to believe in the literal meaning of every word in the collection of stories and books and letters known as the "Bible" to believe in a higher power. Call it Karma, call it the Persistance of Life, call it God... call it what you will.
Suggesting that those that don't think the same as you in such matters are idiotic makes you no different than the Bible-thumping zealots you scoff at.
That said, I think the issues in this thread are starting to get confused.
