Same thing with gay men. They call each other "fag" all the time, but it's still a racial slur.

It pisses me off when people seem to get upset when they hear a word being said, yet other time (depending on who says it) they don't care.
It either offends you or it doesn't. It shouldn't matter who says it, whether a white or black person...
