Sorry to hear that happened. I agree with some on here, it was probably one of the show 'workers'... those dudes make 50 bucks a day and lose their integrity along the path.

honestly, right now i am SAD. i have spent much of today interviewing people about what the redeeming qualities of pornography are -and i got a TON of great answers.
sadly, the common misconception is that there is a lot of lying/cheating/stealing/taking avantage of in our indstry....and right now i'm hurt by my experience tonight and i hope you all will learn from my stupid mistakes. this story is what those other people talk about and make us, as 'ponrographers' look bad.
BUT...
Its a reflection on the lowlife individual that stole them, NOT the industry itself. Unfortunately, stuff like that can happen anywhere, anytime. Where there's temptation - there's always someone present willing to take advantage of it.
Please don't think its simply indicative of the industry we all exist in together. There are still a LOT of really great people in our circles. What happened to you was caused by a bottom-feeding individual, not the collective.
I hope you get the purse and camera back. I'd be rather pissed, too (especially if I lost pics in the camera as well, heh).Comment

I am sorry that happend to you. You and Halcyon are two great people who always have a good positive upbeat presence. While at a webmaster party last year I had my 1 day old leather jacket, a pair of sunglasses, my blackberry and the jacket had a feww hundered bucks cash....
I felt so betrayed... and last night i had the sunglasses stolen fromthe side of the stage.

thanks for all of your responses - both the ones telling me i am an idiot, and the ones expressing sympathy.
a couple things i want to make clear - i left my purse under 2 jackets for as long as it took to walk from the VIP booth (with all the food on it) to the stage to present the award for best GLBT and turn around to go back to the booth in the VIP area. the wallet and camera were in my purse with my Pinkgasm and FLASHCA$H business cards prominently displayed inside (so anyone in the industry would definitely know it was mine if you've seen my biz cards). my cell phone was not taken, nor were my medications.
in my original post i never intended to imply that it was someone in our industry that did this - but what i DID want to point out was that when things like this happen at industry events, they are heard about. rumours get started - hell, half of you here jumped to the conclusion that i thought someone upstanding in the adult community did this (?!). please don't think i'm accusing anyone here, i just wanted to post last night when it happened in case something good came of it...i.e. wallet found with my ID still in it but cards gone, or *something*.
and no, i'm not going to learn that i should never trust anyone ever again - that's ridiculous. Halcyon calls this "the optimism tax" - it's the price you pay for living happily by allowing yourself to trust. i prefer it that way, this experience was/is a bummer but it's not changing my fundamental views, though i may never leave my purse sitting somewhere for 5 minutes again when i'm being asked to present something on stage. i'll just wear my purse and look like an idiot.

I've had a few cameras stolen over years - can't remember how many now - and a couple of attempted frauds plus a number of scamming sponsors. I'm fussy who I call friends and have around, but those that are, have stayed the course for many decades.

When we ran a Cybernet show in Montreal, we were amoungst the first shows to have wireless internet available in the bar areas. Between day 2 and day 3, our wireless hub was stolen, in an area restricted only to webmasters / badged attendees.
Nothing at all surprises me anymore. Sorry for the trouble Tassy... take it as one of those learning experiences.

For the record, she did not leave this in a general VIP area of the club? this was a separate room, blocked by security, where only presenters and their guests could enter with special wristbands. So, it was not open to random attendees or the general public. Plus, if it was buried under 2 purses and other stuff, and was stolen in under 5 minutes while she was presenting, the person(s) must have been watching/planning to raid her purse from the beginning.
