I used to mostly make 320x240 and 640x480 mpeg-1 and wmv clips from standard definition videos, but nowadays for widescreen wmv and quicktime and possibly flash clips I make a smallish version at 480x270 up to 1280x720 or even full size 1920x1080 for those that want very hi-res files.
Also don't forget if you are filming hdv with an interlaced camera you have to de-interlace the clips on capture or in the encoding process to best display them on computer monitors.

thanks a lot this makes sense.....we don't shoot ourselfes but buy...most
of it is HD we get both encoded and raw material. since now there's so much
content theft and torrent sites...I'm contemplating of just doing everything
in flash video format as that's a bit harder to rip and steal.
I know it's still possible.....but at least it's not a simple as just downloading
the files...
Does anyone else just use flash format and no mpeg-1, wmv, or whatever
other downloadable format?
If yes...do you get a lot of complaints from the members? Or do you perhaps
sell other formats as an upsale?
Thanks guys....
