Like it or not, humans are here to stay. So your answer is to just stop hunting, and let the disease and starvation wipe out the deer and other animals? Because that is what happens when they don't do these controlled hunts. The animal population booms and they soon wipe out most of their food sources. They start to starve and disease sets in. In the case of bears, they start to move closer to human populations and people end up getting killed.
As for extinction, I don't think anyone needs to worry about Canada's bear population levels.

And yes, I have kids myself and haven't had any problems with leather seats. What other problem could there be? Do you let your kids play with jackknives in the back seat or something?
