can someone tell me why a harley would be less dangerous then a crotch rocket? is it because they are smaller and don't make as much noise or what?
Without doing any research, just my own opinion.Harleys are less dangerous than sportbikes because of the average age and experience of the riders.I pass Harley riders on the road all the time.I don't recall ever once passing a sportbike rider.
You might not be as anonymous as you think you are.

A bike is as safe as the person driving it. Harleys can be safer because they are louder. But also, a person who owns a Harley generally rides a lot, so they are much better riders, when you ride a lot, yet get a type of sixth sense and can often tell what a car is going to do by how it's driving, what's going on around it, etc, it's hard to explain, but it's true, I can tell when a car is going to change lanes by how they are positioning themselves, what's going on in the lane next to them, etc.
Crotch Rockets get uncomfortable on long road trips, and unforunately, most people who buy them are young and inexperienced riders, and it is very easy to find yourself doing 100+ on a sportbike without realizing it, my "cruising" speed on my GSXR is around 90 - 95, but I have been on a motorcycle one way or another since I was riding a bicycle, and I have never crashed on a road bike.
The reason you don't pass a Sportbike and you do a Harley is because it is harder for a Harley to split lanes, they are wider, they have custom wide handle bars, saddle bags, etc. Plus, Harleys are like 150% more comfortable to sit still on, so it's not such a big deal to come to a stop you just put your feet down, where as on a sportbike you must move your lower back up and down, up and down. Also, Harleys usually have chicks on the back giving you a handjob so they want to take your sweet time getting home.
"normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds"
What slow ass fucker came up with that statistic?
In any case, that's horrible. People can be so stupid.
---- by the time you say: 1.6 seconds, 2 seconds have passed.
i was a passenger in a car that got hit in the rear by a rice burner doing 90mph. We were stopped at a light. The girl sitting behind me broke her nose on he back of my head. The bike was embeded into the trunk and the driver was thrown 20 feet in front of the car. He got up with part of his handle bars still in his hand and tried running. He got like three feet and collapsed.
1. The noise they make is loud as shit, making yourself known to others. The stock pipes they put on sportbikes is rather quiet. Thats why people take out the baffles, get custom pipes, etc.
The D&D on my ZX9 is the loudest they make for that bike.
Loud Pipes Save Lives
2. The speed. Harley's go about 65mph tops. I could get 70mph out of my 99 Road King, but thats about it for them.

Disturbing but funny at the same time. Where was he going? He probably didn't know what the fuck had happened and was just running around like a chicken does when you cut off it's head.
You never should have said that. There are two kinds of riders. Those that have gone down, and those that will.

You were doing pretty good up until there.
I split traffic as well as anyone on a crotch rocket (ask Adult Broker Lori), and more often than not, will catch up to ricers that are splitting traffic and they will pull out of the way and let me lead.

Oh I've laid my bike down, but I don't consider that a crash, by crashing I meant hitting a car or something else and going Boom, and it being my fault.
And I rephrase it to "For some Harleys, splitting traffic is harder..."
and if a Harley, or anyone, catches me, I let them pass.

and if they hit you? and is their fault, it doesn't count?

This is true, I know by first hand experience.
Harley's are safer for the most part. I hear more about crotch rocket fatalities on the canyon runs that I do harley ones
